Purpose:
When you click on a Spotify link wherever it may be, it brings you to the Spotify website, and from there you have to click 4-5 separate times to get the link to open in the desktop app. This extension converts the Spotify URL to the Spotify URI and opens in Spotify automatically. The first time you run the extension, it will ask you where you want to open it, if you select "Spotify" and tell it not to ask you again, Spotify will open automatically when a link is clicked.
Installation:
To install the app, move to Applications, Right Click > Open. After the app opens, go to Safari Preferences and ensure the Extension is enabled.
Issues:
If you’re not seeing the prompt to open the link in Spotify, you may have pop ups blocked for spotify.com. To fix this, go to Preferences > Websites while a Spotify tab is open, and allow pop ups via the sidebar.
Note:
Due to MacOS security policies, you will always be prompted if you want to open the link in Spotify. URI’s cannot be trusted implicitly in Safari (Or Chrome for that matter), but if this is an issue for you, I have also created versions of this plugin for Firefox and Chrome.
